H² Construction was founded by Michelle Carr MCIOB following more than twenty-five years working across the construction industry in commercial management, project delivery, business transformation and risk management.

Construction has shaped Michelle's life from an early age. Growing up within a family construction business, she experienced first-hand both the rewards of success and the consequences of failure. Witnessing the growth of a successful Tier 1 contractor, together with the significant impact its eventual collapse had on employees, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider community, provided a unique perspective on the realities of the industry and fostered a lifelong interest in understanding the decisions, behaviours and risks that determine whether projects and companies thrive or struggle.

After completing her degree in Quantity Surveying, Michelle built her career within the commercial management sector, spending more than two decades helping contractors, developers and clients navigate the commercial, contractual and operational challenges of construction projects. Throughout that time, she has operated predominantly in freelance, consultancy and fractional leadership roles, providing independent expertise across a wide range of projects, businesses and stakeholder groups.

This experience has enabled her to work effectively with contractors, developers, funders, investors, end users, insolvency practitioners and business owners alike. Rather than viewing projects through a single lens, Michelle understands the differing objectives, pressures and risks faced by each party involved in the construction process. This ability to see projects and businesses from multiple perspectives has become one of the defining characteristics of both her work and the consultancy.

Michelle is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb) and holds an NVQ Level 7 in Senior Construction Management, alongside her Quantity Surveying background. Her practical experience spans commercial management, contractual risk, project recovery, dispute avoidance, business transformation and strategic advisory services.

With formal training in alternative dispute resolution and extensive experience dealing with contractual and commercial disputes, Michelle approaches projects differently to many construction professionals. Rather than waiting for problems to arise, she assesses projects and businesses through the lens of future risk, considering how decisions made today may be scrutinised if challenged tomorrow. This approach helps clients strengthen contractual positions, improve decision-making and reduce the likelihood of disputes developing in the first place.

Today, H² operates as a specialist consultancy focused on helping clients identify risk earlier, make better decisions and protect value throughout the lifecycle of a project or business.
